ONE: A STORY OF LOVE AND EQUALITY

In the months leading up to the vote on North Carolina's Amendment One, which would remove legal recognition for all couples that are not a married man and woman, filmmaker Becca Roth and her girlfriend seek to understand the personal stories of people on both sides, with the desire to relate as human beings, gain insight into the global gay marriage debate, and start a dialog.

One: A Story of Love and Equality will be preceded by three short films: Sheltered Love, Najes (The Unclean) and Called to Serve. Films in this session may contain adult content.

Tom is convinced his ex-girlfriend, Lily still loves him and sets out across the country with his passive-aggressive-megalomaniac best friend, Charlie, to save her from her impending wedding. But the arrival of the free-spirited hitchhiker, Hannah, infects all involved. Each has a destination and is willing to play the other passengers against each other to secure their arrival.

Mark Horvath has experienced the highs and lows of the American Dream, from a successful career in television to barely surviving, homeless and addicted, on Hollywood Boulevard. But Mark found his voice again when he hit the streets, armed with a digital camera and a smartphone, to ask homeless people about their own experiences. @home follows Mark across the country, from Los Angeles to Arkansas to Pittsburgh, as he struggles to make homelessness in America visible.

@home will be preceded by a short film entitled, LA Miner. Films in this session many contain adult content.

PLATO'S REALITY MACHINE

Plato's Reality Machine is an ensemble portrait of the modern relationship, as it currently exists in the wilds of New York. Three men: Charles, Josie, and Scott, and three women: Maggie, Zoe, and Kim, crash into each other in a tangled web of late nights, painful mornings, hurt feelings and one ill-advised trip to a strip club. It's a story of ex-girlfriends and brand new boyfriends, of one night stands and single men getting cats. It's a story of the timeless quest for a real human connection, however short-lived. An animated video-game adventure interweaves with reality-television inspired confessionals and traditional narrative stories to offer a fresh and modern twist on the relationship movie. Get ready to get lost. Lost in the game, lost in love, lost in Plato's Reality Machine.

Plato's Reality Machine will be preceded by four short films: Penance, The Fall, Black Water and Blood Brothers. Films in this session may contain adult content.

Quick. Name the baseball hall of fame that allows fans to vote. It’s a hall that has room for players like Curt Flood, Jim Bouton, Jimmy Piersall, Josh Gibson, Maury Wills, Bill Buckner, Bill “Spaceman” Lee, Jim Abbott, “Shoeless Joe Jackson and Dock Ellis. Give up? It’s the Baseball Reliquary, and it’s not exactly Cooperstown. Join documentary filmmaker/baseball zealot Jon Leonoudakis on a star-spangled journey into the heart and soul of baseball. The film features interviews with filmmaker Ron Shelton (“Bull Durham”, “Cobb”), former pitchers Jim Bouton and Bill “Spaceman” Lee, author Arnold Hano (A Day in the Bleachers) and many more.

Not Exactly Cooperstown is preceded by a short film entitled, Wooing Wes Wilson. Films in this session may contain adult content.

NIGHTLIGHTS

NightLights is a loving depiction of the unbreakable bond between Erin Logan and her brother Jacob, who is severely affected by autism. They live together in relative solitude until exciting new chances for love and friendship places even greater pressure on Erin to maintain a safe, happy life for herself and her brother at the same time. Conceived of and directed by special education teacher and filmmaker David Midell, and with support from grassroots organizations around the country, NightLights is an earnest and proud tribute to the resilience of family in all circumstances.

NightLights is preceded by three short films: Four in the Morning, A Man on the Edge and Insomniacs. Films in this session may contain adult content.

LIFE INSIDE OUT

When we first meet Laura, she is half-heartedly hosting a scrap booking party for her sister Lydia’s new multi-level marketing business. When she stumbles upon her long forgotten guitar, a gift from her mother and the former passion of her youthful life, she is taken under its spell and soon rediscovers her love for songwriting. Shane, sullen, ear buds perpetually in his ears, has cut himself off from the activities that his father and brothers enjoy. When Laura impulsively decides to sing at her first open-mic night, she takes Shane along for the ride—an act of both pity and motherly instinct. As family pressures rise Laura finds herself pulled between the worlds of responsibility and creative joy. Ultimately, her first brave steps prove to be the catalyst for changing not only her life, but Shane’s, in complex and unpredictable ways.

Life Inside Out is preceded by three short films: The Hero Pose, Lost in the Sky and Nice is Cool. Films in this session may contain adult content.

CRAZY FOR YOU is the story of Bobby Child, a well-to-do 1930's rich playboy, who's dream in life is to dance. The audience will be swept up in an artfully constructed tale of boy meeting girl in the Wild West, where they spread goodness and ultimately fall in love in this delightful Ira and George Gershwin gem. The curtain opens, backstage at the Zangler Theater in New York in the 1930's and takes you to the dusty town of Deadrock. Nevada, where he falls in love with the theater owner's daughter, Polly. In order to save the theater, he dreams up the idea to put on a show to raise money by bringing to town the Zangler Follies. Memorable Gershwin tunes include I Can't Be Bothered Now, I Got Rhythm, They Can't Take That Away from Me, But Not for Me, Nice Work if You Can Get It, Embraceable You and Someone to Watch Over Me.

With the help of a hunchbacked side-kick, Igor (pronounced "Eye-gore"), and a leggy lab assistant, Inga (pronounced normally), Frederick finds himself in the mad scientist shoes of his ancestors. "It's alive!" he exclaims as he brings to life a creature to rival his grandfather's. Eventually, of course, the monster escapes and hilarity continuously abounds.  YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN is scientifically-proven, monstrously good entertainment for the entire family!
