Directors Nate Coon and Rachel Rosellini and the Palatine Children's Chorus's Do Re Mi, Treble, and Honors Choirs will delight audiences when they celebrate spring in the first of our May concerts, Spring Song I.  In spring we celebrate all of nature, and our choirs do just that when they sing about Mrs. Jenny Wren, the Heather Glen and On Goes the River.  After storms we often delight in a Rainbow Connection.  And who doesn't look at the moon over a lake an dream about the Path to the Moon?  Join PCC's young choirs and welcome spring!

ALLEGRO GOES TO THE MOVIES

On Friday, May 2, join the Park District's Allegro Adult Choir as they celebrate their 10th anniversary with a trip to the movies!  You'll enjoy music from some of these favorites: A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum gave us "Comedy Tonight", State Fair gaves us "It's A Grand Night for Singing", Sister Act 2 gave us that special arrangement of "O Happy Day", Fellowship of the Ring gave us "May It Be", and Les Misérables and The Lion King gave us so much special music that they just have to sing it all.  Sit back, imagine a box of popcorn, and let the music sweep you away to the movies!

Join the choirs of the Palatine Children's Chorus for Spring Song II as they continue to celebrate the season through their music.  Like our younger choirs celebrated spring on May 1st, our older choirs will also honor Mother Nature when Intermezzo Choir sings Sakura (cherry blossoms--in Japanese!) and the Louis Armstrong classic, What A Wonderful World, Concert Choir sings In Time of Silver Rain, and our combined choirs sing John Rutter's For the Beauty of the Earth.  After our cold, snowy winter, celebrate with us as we welcome spring!

CUTTING HALL STUDENT FILM SERIES

Come see and support the works of student filmmakers in the community at the Cutting Hall Student Film Series on Saturday, May 10th at 3:00 PM.  This 60-minute program will feature a variety of short films produced by college, high school, junior high and even grade school students.  Filmmakers in attendance will have the opportunity to participate in a Q&A with the audience following their film.

A list of the May 2014 films will be announced in mid-April.

Theatre Nebula proudly presents

MONTY PYTHON'S SPAMALOT!

Feeling a little blue?  Try looking on the bright side of life.  Theatre Nebula's production of the delightfully barmy musical Monty Python's Spamalot! is stocked with an A-team of stage jesters and buffoons.  Lovingly ripped off from the classic film comedy Monty Python and the Holy Grail and adapted by Monty Python member Eric Idle (who co-wrote the show's score with John Du Prez), is just as garish, madcap and entertaining maybe more so.  The musical mashes up Camelot with Vegas, madrigals with power ballads, and killer rabbits with a gay Sir Lancelot romance.  Moreover, it shamelessly skewers musicals in general, with some especially choice jobs at Fiddler on the Roof and Phantom of the Opera. Spamalot is set in Britain in the Middle Ages and it gleefully milks such abominations as the black plague and gruesome warfare for laughs, as it retells the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, and features a bevy of beautiful show girls, not to mention cows, shrubbery, large trout, and French people.  Did we mention the bevy of beautiful show girls?  The 2005 Broadway production won three Tony Awards, including Best Musical and received 14 Tony Award nominations.

This enduring fairytale of lost children, candy sweets and an evil witch comes to life in an enchanting Main Street Opera production of Engelbert Humperdinck's Hansel & Gretel.
