ALAB NG LAHI – The Spirit of Our Race
The Leyte Kalipayan Dance Company (LKDC) is proud to showcase the rich Filipino heritage through music, dance, and song in this 1 hour and 45-minute repertoire. Performers will present varied forms of dance and music from the three major islands of the Philippines – Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The LKDC is based in the province of Leyte, in the Eastern Visayas region of the Philippines. The dance company was designated as Official Cultural Ambassadors of the Philippines to the United States in 1965. LKDC toured the United States and even appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show. The company has toured various cities around the world, throughout Asia, Europe, and the Americas. The word “kalipayan” comes from the Waray-Waray language and means joy and happiness. We hope you enjoy the show!
