Synopsis

The Palatine Concert Band, under the direction of Dr. Frederick Lowe, performs its Spring Concert “Sunday Afternoon: By Request” on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at 3:30 pm at Cutting Hall Performing Arts Center, 150 E. Wood St., Palatine.

This afternoon’s “By Request” program will explore diverse musical genres and captivating melodies thoughtfully chosen by our talented musicians. From the infectious Latin rhythms of Márquez’s “Danzon No. 2” to the soul-stirring beauty of Elgar’s “Nimrod” from Enigma Variations, each note will weave into a tapestry of colors and emotions. Join us as we traverse through the Toccata by Frescobaldi, the majestic “March” from Symphonic Metamorphosis on Themes by Weber by Hindemith, and madcap music from The Incredibles by Giacchino. Bernstein’s lively “Three Dance Episodes” from On the Town and timeless selections from Grease complete the program. It promises to be a memorable afternoon where passion meets performance, and music speaks louder than words.
